EV workshop facilities

Go Green Autos retails vehicles and does not provide repair or servicing facilities. However, there are some less time consuming workshop services we can offer to local EV drivers, which we can fit in around our normal activities. All visits must be by prior arranged appointments. Our premises are in South Oxfordshire.

Air conditioning recharging

Vehicles typically loose around 40-50 grams (or 10-15%) of refrigerant per annum. Keeping this topped up at the correct level is critical on some EVs, especially on Renault Zoes. If your system is not recharged for three years, it could have lost almost half of the refrigerant! The refrigerant carries oil around to lubricate the system as it circulates. Insufficient gas could result in compressor failure.

Most electric vehicles use the new R1234yf refrigerant which isn't widely stocked at local garages. At Go Green Autos, we can undertake air conditioning recharging on all vehicles (both ICE and EV) that use either the R134a or R1234yf refrigerant.

The overall price depends on how much refrigerant your vehicle requires. Our machines removes the refrigerant from your vehicle, weights it and then after a vacuum test, replenishes your refrigerant back into the vehicle and tops-up to the correct amount and also adds the correct oil if required. You pay for the amount of additional refrigerant added to the vehicle.

Air conditioning recharge £75.00 plus £0.07 per gram for R134a refrigerant or £0.15 per gram or R1234yf refrigerant.

Traction battery health diagnostics

Only some electric vehicles report the traction battery state of health within the car's BMS (battery management system). Where it does, we can read this with our diagnostic equipment. Main dealers will normally charge £155 or more to report the battery health. We charge only £35.00+VAT.

We can report the battery SoH on the following models:

  • Hyundai's

  • Kia's

  • Nissan's

  • Renault's

Reduction gear oil change

All EVs have a reduction gearbox with oil. Most manufacturers claim this is "sealed for life" and changing the oil is not part of the service schedule. However, changing the oil periodically will help to extend its life. On most vehicles, we would suggest about every 60,000 miles or so. However, on Nissan Leaf and ENV200 models changing the oil every 30-40,000 miles is better as the gearbox wear can be greater on these.

The cost is £80+VAT, which includes the new fully synthetic oil and oil disposal.

We can also to the same on other EVs, such as the Hyundai Ioniq, Renault Zoe, Renault Kangoo, Peugeot iOn and more.

12V auxiliary battery testing or replacement

We can test any 12V auxiliary battery for no charge.

  • Kia Soul EV - £94.00

Pre-purchase EV inspections

At Go Green Autos, we may not have the vehicle you want. If you’re looking to buy a used electric vehicle elsewhere, we can still help by undertaking an onsite pre-purchase inspection for you. It can be extremely frustrating viewing vehicles that end up being not as described. This is now more of a problem when buying vehicles remotely over the internet. We can take away that risk by visiting the vehicle and inspecting it for you and as EV experts, we know what to look for when buying electric vehicles.

What do you get?

  • HPI type data check which includes outstanding finance check

  • A thorough on site vehicle inspection and test drive

  • Video of every check, so you get to see what we see

  • Photos

  • Battery diagnostic and SoH check where possible

Cost of the vehicle inspection is £288 inc VAT, plus 50p per mile travel from postcode OX12 0EE to the vehicle, for the round trip.

We do not cover Central London, within the North/South Circular. Off street or unrestricted parking must be available at viewing location.
