Range

The range of a vehicle is dictated by the battery capacity, driving style and temperature. Just like a petrol or diesel vehicle, range is reduced is you drive fast or uneconomically. For further details, see Range Explained.

The official range using the more accurate WLTP test cycle is 165 miles city, 124 miles combined. We've found the MX-30 to be a pretty efficient EV and the WLPT ranges can be easily achieved.

The range you can achieve with a full battery at different average driving economies is:

  • 5.5 mpkWh (super efficient city driving) = 165 miles

  • 5.0 mpkWh (efficient summer driving) = 150 miles

  • 4.0 mpkWh (average driving) = 120 miles

  • 3.5 mpkWh (efficient winter driving) = 105 miles

  • 3.0 mpkWh (very cold winter driving) = 90 miles

Charging

The MX-30 has two charging ports at the rear offside wing. A 6.6kW AC port for home, workplace or slow AC charging and a 40kW CCS port for public DC rapid charging.

When using a public DC rapid charger, you can charge the battery from 20-80% in 35 minutes. Public rapid chargers are found in motorway service stations, petrol stations, IKEA, Lidl stores and some roadside locations.

When using a 7kW AC charger, you can charge the battery from flat to full in about 5 hours, or add around 21 miles per hour. You'll find AC chargers in car parks, roadside locations, shopping centres and of course at home or work if you a wall charger installed.

You can also charge from a standard 240V mains socket using a portable charger cable (often called a granny cable). These charge at 2.3kW/10A and add about 8 miles per hour of charging.

Charge times are approx:

  • 36 mins from 20-80% on a 50kW DC rapid charger

  • 5.5 hours from 0-100% on a 7kW AC charger

  • 15.5 hours to 0-100% on a 2.3kW portable charger

This car comes with a both a type2 AC charge cable and a portable charger (granny cable).
