The media would have you believe that EVs are more expensive to run than petrol or diesel vehicles. This is not the case for the majority of EV drivers.

If you can charge from home or work, then there's huge savings to be made, especially if you charge on a cheap rate nighttime tariff such as Octopus Intelligent Go. Or if you're mostly at home during the day and can be flexible with when you charge your car, you can make even more savings with Octopus Agile. But if you are reliant on public rapid chargers, then an EV costs about the same to run as a comparable ICE vehicle. This is due to the current high cost of public charging. That might change. But you can make savings on the maintenance/servicing.
