Range

The range of a vehicle is dictated by the battery capacity, driving style and temperature. Just like a petrol or diesel vehicle, range is reduced is you drive fast or uneconomically. For further details, see Range Explained.

The official range using the more accurate WLTP test cycle is 168 miles and 217 miles on the NEDC test. If you drive economically in the summer, 160 is achievable for most drivers. Driving at an average of 4.5mpkWh will give you 162 miles range. It is possible to drive more economically than that. In the winter temperatures, the range will drop by around 20%. Driving at an average of 3.0mpkWh, you'd get 108 miles.

Charging

The Leaf has two charging ports at the front. A 50kW DC Chademo port for public DC rapid chargers and a type2 6.6kW AC port for all other charging on AC power.

When using a public 50kW DC rapid charger, you can charge the battery from 20-80% in 60 minutes. Public rapid chargers are found in motorway service stations, petrol stations, IKEA, Lidl stores and some roadside locations.

When using a 7kW AC charger, you can charge the battery from 0-100% in around 7 hours or add around 21 miles per hour. You'll find AC chargers in car parks, roadside locations, shopping centres and of course all at home or work if you have wall chargers installed.

You can also charge from a standard 240V mains socket using a portable charger cable (often called a granny cable). These charge at 2.3kW/10A and add about 7 miles per hour of charging.

Charge times are approx:

  • 1 hour from 20-80% on a 50kW DC rapid charger

  • 7 hours from 0-100% on a 7kW AC charger

  • 18.5 hours to 0-100% on a 2.3kW portable charger

This car comes with a both a type2 AC charge cable and a portable charger (granny cable).

Battery

40kWh lithium-ion battery, with approximately 36kWh usable by the driver. Battery is owned and is covered by a 8 year/100,000 mile warranty from new.

The current battery state of health (tested 08/10/2021) is 91.27%. Battery SoH does fluctuate and can go up as well as down. I would expect to see the SoH rise slightly once this car is back into daily use. The car has only received one DC rapid charge in its lifetime too.

Condition

The car is in excellent condition and everything works without any fault or errors.

The tyre treat depths: Front 7.6mm/7.6mm, rear 6.0mm/4.7mm.

New tyres typically are 6.5-7.5mm tread depth. The legal limit is 1.6mm.

MoT

The current MoT expires 05/08/2022. The first MoT was done on 22/07/2021 at 27,810 miles.

Service history

A service & thorough inspection has just been completed on 08/10/2021. A service history print out from both Nissan and the lease company is included, which shows two services have been done.

Number of owners

1 since new. V5 shows no previous keepers.

From new, the 40kWh Leaf gets an 8 year/100,000 miles warranty on the traction battery, 5 year/60,000 miles warranty on the high voltage components and 3 year/60,000 miles warranty on the standard components. The warranty on this vehicle is therefore:
