Replacing the anti-roll bar drop links on a Renault Zoe

A common issue on the Renault Zoe is the drop links (also called stabiliser bars or anti-roll bar/sway bar links) wear out prematurely. The symptoms are a rattle at the front when driving on rough roads. It is quite common that they need changing at around 25-30,000 miles on a Zoe. Some owners have even had them changed at only 15,000 miles.

The original Renault part is no. 551107916R and currently costs £104.50 inc VAT. There are plenty of cheaper alternatives available from as little as £8.50 for a pair. In this video I used the Febi Bilstein parts (part no. 21810) at £18.50 per pair from https://www.bestpartstore.co.uk.

The drop links can be more awkward to remove, when the bolt has corroded and an allen key no longer stops it from spinning, mean you can't undo the lock nut. In these circumstances, the nut has to be cut off using an angle grinder with a cutting disc.
